Transiting Saturn, or the area of the natal chart where Saturn is currently positioned, points towards an area of life we might be amidst facing the demands to reach a new level of wisdom and maturity, which can often come in the form of confronting the realities of what we’ve been avoiding or running from up to that point. Saturn transits are often dreaded, or even feared, but in reality, this astrological taskmaster simply wants you to thoroughly learn the lesson at hand and is ready to come in and bring your attention to those things that will crumble under his weight. In other words, Saturn enters the picture to bring your attention to those things that are truly not sustainable, whether that be a job, a relationship, a habit, a living situation, or even a facet of your identity. In the ancient world, Saturn (and his Greek counterpart Cronos) was an agricultural god. True to this, Saturnian transits ultimately come with the message, you reap what you sow. As we navigate Saturn transits we’re offered the opportunity to learn what did and didn’t work for us in the past and why, and how we can adjust things to create a more bountiful harvest down the road.

As we move through Saturn’s transition into a new sign, we’re also preparing to welcome Saturn into a new space in our natal charts, and thus, open up a new chapter of meeting the demands for commitment, mastery, maturation, and the development of hard-earned wisdom in a specific area of our life.

When viewing Saturn through a neutral lens, its movement through the chart isn’t here to inflict hardship, but rather put your existing frameworks to the test. Are your life structures, beliefs, sense of autonomy, relationships, physical and mental health, all built to endure difficult moments just as well as ease? The weight of Saturn imparts the need to scrutinize whether you’ve built your life in accordance with the lessons that seem to pop up over and over again, or whether you tend to bypass these lessons without readjusting your life accordingly in a sustainable way. Saturn certainly presents challenges, but also presents opportunity to obtain and integrate lived wisdom.

When anticipating (or experiencing) Saturn’s presence in a certain house it’s important to consider your relationship to that area of your life up to this point, what you’ve been putting into it, and whether that is in or out of alignment. Wherever Saturn dwells we can expect lessons of that area of life to come to a head - have you learned those lessons, or have you been taking shortcuts? As a result, Saturn transits often require us to confront deep-seated, subconscious fears: the very possibilities of reality that we tend to avoid.

Saturn in Aries Horoscope for Taurus Risings

For you, Taurus, Saturn’s shift into Aries brings this planet into your twelfth house, the house of inner world and subconscious, of solitude and isolation, unseen forces, and mental health. While twelfth house transits can be challenging, often forcing us to confront things we choose to suppress or ignore, they also offer up the opportunity for tremendous spiritual growth and evolution. For you, this transit follows up Saturn’s time in your eleventh house of community and greater aspirations, a time that can often serve as a call to reshape and fully commit to one’s life aspirations and the role they play in directing your life’s path. The shift fro the eleventh to the twelfth can feel stark and heavy, like a weight on one’s sense of hope and belief, or can even manifest as a feeling that one’s efforts have fallen flat and that there’s no purpose in pushing forward. Saturn rejoices in the twelfth house, meaning there is a natural sympathy between significations of the twelfth house and Saturnian themes and lessons. As such, Saturn in the twelfth can feel loud and heavy, while also creating an urge to embrace a hermit era. While Saturn in the twelfth house is one of the *extra* challenging Saturnian experiences, it ultimately presents the opportunity for tremendous spiritual growth and development and a sense of inner peace in oneself. What may start off as a loss of faith and losing sight of meaning and purpose has the potential to lend towards de-prioritization of material ambition that feeds a greater spiritual growth and maturation. Working through the challenges of Saturn in the twelfth house demands prioritizing rest, the need for solitude, and your mental well-being, and has the potential to lend towards a greater sense of inner peace with one’s fate, a phrase that sounds a bit larger than life (and fatalistic) but ultimately means cultivating a greater ability to move with the ebbs and flows of life feeling anchored in oneself and one’s ability to remain inwardly steady and stable.

Horoscope for Saturn in Aries for Virgo Risings

Saturn’s shift into Aries brings the weight of this planet into your own eighth house of intimacy, inheritance, debt, shared resources, and death. This house is one that has a tendency to strike fear, but much of Saturn’s movement through this austere space invokes exactly that: the confrontation of some of our deepest fears and the inherited baggage we bear the weight of as a means of developing a greater sense of personal authority and maturity. The eighth house is a space of intimacy and vulnerability. If the seventh house is where we sign the contract and commit ourselves to partnership, the eighth house is where we’re expected to make good on those promises, a process that requires a lot of vulnerability, but ultimately lends towards the development of intimacy. The eighth house has notoriety for carrying the signification of death, but is important to note that there are many kinds of death we experience through a lifetime, lending towards a continual process of personal transformation. Saturn’s time in your eighth house asks you to gain an awareness of your relationship to your own power. What are the forces at play within your own psyche and what have you been suppressing or avoiding all together? Saturn transiting the eighth house opens up the challenge to transform and redefine yourself by stripping away the values and parts of yourself you’ve been carrying that have been imparted on you by others (be that family members, relationships, both current and/or previous, and even close friends). This process requires intense intimacy and vulnerability with yourself as it demands you get very real about what is and isn’t you, who you are and who you aren’t which often requires you to strip away things you’ve become attached to or depend on as a means of protecting yourself. In the eighth house Saturn demands liberation from emotional and psychological conditioning that comes from your past. This transit presents the demand to go deep, however, it ultimately presents the opportunity to experience a rebirth that places you in touch with your own personal power and what it means to feel wholly yourself.

Horoscopes for Saturn in Aries for Capricorn Risings

As a Saturn-ruled sign, you always feel Saturn shifts very sensitively, Capricorn, but with Saturn moving into your angular fourth house, this transit is even more impactful for you. The fourth house serves as the roots of the natal chart, representing ancestry and lineage, our home and domestic settings and roles, familial dynamics, and our own need for security. Saturn’s presence here bring your attention to the current state of stability in your own life, your own need for belonging, and the general state of your own roots (metaphorically, but also maybe literally). When Saturn enters the fourth house it nudges us towards planting roots and cultivating sturdier foundations in our life, particularly when it comes to the home and living situation. This may look like confronting the need to move because you’ve outgrown your current home, moving to another city where you’ll be able to plant stronger roots, leaving an unstable living situation, or perhaps engaging in some home renovation projects in your current home. The most important priority to center, no matter the choices you’re making, is that you’re honoring your own inner security and tending to your roots in a way that gives them space and nurturance to grow and flourish. Saturn’s presence in the fourth house can also bring our attention to our relationship with ancestry, cultural heritage, and lineage. Acknowledging and coming to terms with your own familial history presents the opportunity to position yourself into legacy - both within the context of your family history and the person you’re set to become by taking authority over who you are in relation to where you come from, which often looks like breaking generational patterns or confronting memories from childhood. This transit ultimately presents the opportunity to tend to your roots and restructure from the foundation up in order to grow and build your own legacy from a secure place.
