Transiting Saturn, or the area of the natal chart where Saturn is currently positioned, points towards an area of life we might be amidst facing the demands to reach a new level of wisdom and maturity, which can often come in the form of confronting the realities of what we’ve been avoiding or running from up to that point. Saturn transits are often dreaded, or even feared, but in reality, this astrological taskmaster simply wants you to thoroughly learn the lesson at hand and is ready to come in and bring your attention to those things that will crumble under his weight. In other words, Saturn enters the picture to bring your attention to those things that are truly not sustainable, whether that be a job, a relationship, a habit, a living situation, or even a facet of your identity. In the ancient world, Saturn (and his Greek counterpart Cronos) was an agricultural god. True to this, Saturnian transits ultimately come with the message, you reap what you sow. As we navigate Saturn transits we’re offered the opportunity to learn what did and didn’t work for us in the past and why, and how we can adjust things to create a more bountiful harvest down the road.
As we move through Saturn’s transition into a new sign, we’re also preparing to welcome Saturn into a new space in our natal charts, and thus, open up a new chapter of meeting the demands for commitment, mastery, maturation, and the development of hard-earned wisdom in a specific area of our life.
When viewing Saturn through a neutral lens, its movement through the chart isn’t here to inflict hardship, but rather put your existing frameworks to the test. Are your life structures, beliefs, sense of autonomy, relationships, physical and mental health, all built to endure difficult moments just as well as ease? The weight of Saturn imparts the need to scrutinize whether you’ve built your life in accordance with the lessons that seem to pop up over and over again, or whether you tend to bypass these lessons without readjusting your life accordingly in a sustainable way. Saturn certainly presents challenges, but also presents opportunity to obtain and integrate lived wisdom.
When anticipating (or experiencing) Saturn’s presence in a certain house it’s important to consider your relationship to that area of your life up to this point, what you’ve been putting into it, and whether that is in or out of alignment. Wherever Saturn dwells we can expect lessons of that area of life to come to a head - have you learned those lessons, or have you been taking shortcuts? As a result, Saturn transits often require us to confront deep-seated, subconscious fears: the very possibilities of reality that we tend to avoid.
Saturn in Aries Horoscope for Gemini Risings
For you, Gemini, Saturn’s shift into Aries brings this planet into your eleventh house of communal groups and spaces, network and audience, and personal aspirations. The challenge of Saturn in the eleventh house lies in recognizing the growing pains of spaces that no longer hit your own greater aspirations. You may find yourself feeling like you no longer fit into groups and communal spaces where you’ve previously invested time and energy, particularly more ‘casual,’ surface-level social spaces that aren’t aligned and conducive to the direction you feel yourself headed in life. Throughout Saturn’s time in Aries you may find yourself less willing to conform in order to fit in, developing a much tighter social circle, and outgrowing the aspirations you previously held for yourself. As Saturn moves through the eleventh house it presents the challenge of confronting a feeling of not fitting in and/or lack of connection to your previous aspirations and the way you directed your life in accordance with them. You previous goals and dreams may no longer feel authentic to you. While these challenges can feel isolating, and might even bring about a realization that you feel ‘lost’ in life, this transit offers up the opportunity to reconfigure your own aspirations and vision for your life in a way that centers your own authenticity, personal evolution, and maturation. You also stand to get very clear about the kinds of communities you want to surround yourself with, gravitating towards spaces that ultimately share and uplift your vision for the collective and where you fit into it while developing boundaries with groups and communities that are no longer in alignment. Saturn moving through the eleventh brings the invitation to fully commit to your visions, dreams, and goals and arrange your external life to make it so. This transit also stands to fortify a sense of commitment to community, and potentially even present the invitation to embrace leadership roles.
Saturn in Aries Horoscope for Libra Risings
For you, Libra, this transit brings Saturn into your sensitive, angular seventh house. Saturn here is sure to bring about some big lessons around what it means for you to relate, connect, and be in relationship with others, however, with this inherently comes some major lessons around your own sovereignty, inner balance, and how you show up to relationships. The most important thing to understand about the seventh house is that it presents a place of contractual agreement - this is the space where two parties make an agreement, whether it’s explicit or unspoken, to show up and fulfill their side of a partnership. In the space of a relationship exist two individuals, with their own center, consciousness, and perspective, and therefore, each make choices about how to show up in that partnership. Saturn’s presence in the seventh house demands recognition of where one person starts and the other ends (and vice versa), as well as the values that act as the gravitational center in the middle, creating the basis for the relationship. A symbiotic relationship requires equal access and presence in that in-between space, while also recognizing and honoring those bounds of where one person ends and the other begins. Moving under Saturn in your seventh house presents the challenge of either developing boundaries in your relationship, or conversely, confronting a sense of loneliness and isolation that has developed as a result of being walled off by boundaries that are too rigid (or, of course, some combination of the two). The work of Saturn in your seventh house may require you to confront patterns of hurt from past relationships that are currently defining the way you relate to others, the weight you may be placing on others to grant you a sense of wholeness (or conversely, the weight you may be feeling to provide wholeness to others), as well as fears around being alone. When it comes to Saturn transiting the seventh house, existing partnerships will either fortify and flourish, or crumble under Saturn’s weight. But the key thing to understand here is that if it crumbles, the foundations were never sturdy to begin with. The opportunity presented by Saturn transiting the seventh lies in cultivating healthy boundaries, deepening one’s relationships, and finding inner balance between committing to yourself and to others.
Saturn in Aries Horoscope for Aquarius Risings
Aquarius, for you this shift brings Saturn into your third house of communication, locale, skill sets, practices, and ritual. In the third house we take in information from our surroundings and process that information to communicate and place ourselves within it by developing intellect and skills. The third house is the place of praxis - where we take what we think, value, know, and understand about ourselves (in other words, who we are to ourselves in theory) and put it into practice. This transit presents the opportunity to broaden your intellect, sharpen your communication skills, and commit yourself to walking the walk of who you are, rather than just talking the talk, so to speak. Saturn in the third house asks you to move slowly and take time to translate your thoughts into words and actions. With Aries occupying this space, you may have a tendency to speak before you think or feel rushed to get your thoughts out. Saturn moving through the third house asks you to be more discerning of your environment and how you move through it, as well as engage in more serious analysis and critical thinking. Saturn transiting the third house presents the opportunity to express yourself more clearly and concisely by focusing on saying exactly what you mean. It also presents the opportunity to commit to learning new skillsets. Finally, Saturn in the third house reminds us that a strong community and network takes time, commitment, and dedication to build. As Saturn moves through Aries, consider what personal maturation and wisdom would lend towards a stronger network within your community.
